Bonn Lily Mini Hat tutorial

You will need: 

*Scraps

*Some sort of clip (I used a special type of bobby pin I bought at Hobby Lobby)

*A sewing machine (optional) 

*Glue gun

*Fluffy pillow stuffing 

So, to bigin this FUN project, you will need to follow this tutorial here, but stop when you get to this photo: 

Now your ready to start! 

 You will need to make three sizes, one big and fat, one long and one small. You can always just mix and mach the sizes. 

Fill will pillow stuffing and turn in the corners and sew all the way around, as if your making a yo-yo.

Pull and tie a not.

Moving on to the small one ( I didn’t add any stuffing to it), sew strait across. Make sure your doing this by hand, other wise it will make it hard to ruffle.

Ruffle the little “leaf” and attach this to your “strawberry."

 

Repeat the same step before, and finnish off your last strawberry. 

Last but not least, hot glue the bigger circle to the back, and then attach the bobby pin to that.

Fun or what?! These things take like 5 minutes to make! If you make one, send me a photo!!!

Creating Smiles Day (skipped 5) 6: Pink Pistachio

Hi I'm Missy, author of Pink Pistachio (a little blog about making life a plethora of cuteness). Please to meetcha new friendlies! xo 

 When Hannah asked me to help contribute to Creating Smiles Week I may or may not have done a toe touch! C'mon now... what's better than smiles? Maybe smiles AND ice-cream sundaes. But still. Smiles are right up there at the top of my list! When contemplating what I'd share with you all, I immediately reflected upon a post I wrote about Strangers and how we treat them. I think it touches home about how a simple smile can make a world of difference.  

But then my thoughts shifted to something all but smiles, loss. The greatest lost a family can experience, the loss of their parents. And not only that, the injuries the children sustained will be life altering.

 You may or may not have heard about the Berry Family. Reading their story puts life back into perspective in an instant. Can you imagine? One minute everyone is laughing & carrying on as a family & the next everything is horrifically changed forever. Life is so short, my friends. Take time to tell loved ones how much you love them. Let go of resentment. Nothing is unforgivable. If they or you were gone would holding on to heartache matter? Forgive & replace hurt for healing. I encourage each of you to learn more about the Berry Family, share their story, donate if you feel lead, and most importantly - pray for them. Smiles can come through grief. And we can help. This is the amazing thing about the world of blogging & technology. Our world shrinks by one click of a mouse! Hannah is doing a great work and I commend her on her ambitious pure heart that desires to make the World a happier place!

Creating Smiles Day 4: Hello Beautiful

Hi there, my name is Emma and I blog over at Hello Beautiful. I was really honored when Hannah contacted me and asked if I would be interested in participating in her Creating Smiles project as I felt it would be a wonderful way to bring purpose and meaning to my crafting obsession. There are several causes that I hold dear, but for this week I would like to donate 100% of the sale price of all sales in my etsy shop to The Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

My 4yr old daughter was born with a severe heart defect and has had multiple open heart surgeries, performed by the AMAZING surgeons at CHLA. She has grown from being a very weak little mite into a roaring, running, screeching bundle of strength and energy. The doctors and nurses at CHLA have not only saved her life, but have also given her the opportunity to have a NORMAL life, something which many children are not able obtain.

One particularly memorable moment was taking her to our local ER and being told she needed to get to CHLA (about 1hr away by car) immediately. What felt like 10 mins later, she and I were on the roof of the ER being escorted into CHLA's helicopter and flown to LA. Not quite the entrance into Hollywood I would have liked to make, but my daughter was (and still is) pretty thrilled about having arrived in such style.

Now, before you start feeling sad for my daughter, please know that she usually looks like this these days....

But there are plenty of other children that do need our help, so please go ahead and check out my Etsy Store and if you see something you'd like to buy, please know that your money will be given to the hospital that gave my daughter skateboarding downhill, family trips to the beach, ballet recitals among many other things, as well as a future.

Creating Smiles Day 3: Hope Sewell

Hey everybody!  I'm Hope from Seasons With The Sewells.  I'm so excited to be here today with the Hannah Handmade team.  I love the whole idea of spreading some love and Creating Smiles. In The Magnificent Defeat, Frederick Buechner writes: "The love for equals is a human thing-of friend for friend, brother for brother.  It is to love what is loving and lovely.  The world smiles.  The love for the less fortunate is a beautiful thing-the love for those who suffer, for those who are poor, the sick, the failures, the unlovely.  This is compassion, and it touches the heart of the world.  The love for the more fortunate is a rare thing-to love those who succeed where we fail, to rejoice without envy with those who rejoice, the love of the poor for the rich, of the black man for the white man.  The world is always bewildered by its saints.  This is God's love.  It conquers the world." Everyone needs a little love and a reason to smile.  Here was our idea to bring a little smile to the faces of those around us. Homemade Blueberry Jam Here's how we got started.  I had LOTS of fresh blueberries!!  Grab some sugar and fruit pectin and you are ready to go. I put 4 cups of blueberries into a large, heavy pot and let my children mash them up.  They started out with spoons... and then moved to their hands to make sure they got the job done.  Once all the berries were coarsely mashed up, I stirred in 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 6 tablespoons of fruit pectin to the pot.  You could also use one individual package of fruit pectin. Bring all of this to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.  Once it's fully boiling, let it cook for a minute. Then ladle your jelly into very clean jars leaving an inch of space at the top to make room for expansion in the freezer. Once cooled to room temperature, you can store it in the refrigerator or freeze it for later. Now....I also made a smoother version of this jam.  Sometimes texture is a big deal to me.  ;)  So for that, I took the same amount of berries and pureed them in my food processor.  Then strained the berries into my large, heavy pot. I cooked it up the same exact way.  I love that it's nice and smooth. After all of the jelly was put into jars and cooled to room temp we add a simple little label and a string of twine.   I used a sweet little Martha Stewart punch on the corner.  Love it!! Here are some of the sweet faces that we brought smiles to. My grandmother. And our next door neighbors. We have given our jam to many of our neighbors and friends who just need a little something to smile about.  Ask yourself how you might be able to bring a smile to someone's face this week. Creating Smiles Day 2: Live.Love.Craft

Hi guys! I’m Alyssa from Live. Love. Craft. And I’m stoked to be part of Creating Smiles week here at HannahHandmade! I’m so honored that Hannah asked me to join!

Today I’m going to show you how to make a flower out of Lace trim. You can use it for headbands, hairclips, pins, really anything!

{this is the trim I used, I got it at the thrift store for $0.25!}

Cut a circle of felt a little bit smaller than you want your flower to be. Start hot gluing the lace onto the felt, pleating it every now and then.

Keep going around until you reach the center.

Take the trim that’s hanging off and twist it a little. Glue it down in the middle.

You can put buttons, beads, whatever you want in the middle. I chose to use these little rhinestone thingies.

You will probably notice the square end from where you started just sitting there looking awkward.  To fix it, put a blob of glue on the back and then fold and stick the square end in the glue. Wow… sorry… I didn’t know how to say that! Does that make sense?

Now all you have to do is attach it to a pin or whatever and you’re done! Easy peasy and SUPER cheap!
